New York City Museum

From its beginnings as the library of financier and art collector Pierpont Morgan (1837–1913), The Morgan Library & Museum now serves as a museum, research library, music venue, architectural landmark and historic site. The core of the institution is the recently restored McKim private library founded in 1906. Combined with the 2006 expansion by architect Renzo Piano, The Morgan Library & Museum provides unprecedented access to world-renowned collections of drawings, literary and historical manuscripts, musical scores, medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, books, photos and ancient Near Eastern seals and tablets.
